Letter to the Editor
From Anna Monclova

The 2006 elections brought some changes to Alpine’s government, a reminder and symbol of our democracy.

The last two years has revealed Alpine’s true colors.  I’m flabbergasted by the politically driven and orchestrated schemes executed in the political world.
  •  Alpine’s dirty politician,  Nancy DeWitt and the TOMA case
  •  Qualification investigations at Mayor Mickey Clouse’s request, alluding conflict of interest
  •  The Brewster CAD appointment impediment after Clouse failed to receive the appointment, my ineligibility questioned on personal property delinquency, perhaps my previous work experience was a threat to a well established dictatorship
  •  Karen Philippi, the previous, unprofessional, inexperienced, and overpaid so called manager who defied Alpine’s  form of government
  •  Terry Sykes, Alpine’s last utility director, rebellious to council and a Philippi loyalist who harassed a utility employee, my father, simply a political motive on his part
  • Ex-councilmen Raun and Yakubanski’s tiresome opinions, publish your own accomplishment, if anyLinda Potter and the power of her so called journalism.  I commend her creative efforts and strong desire and determination to intertwine my personal and political life to publicly shame me
  • Linda Potter and the power of her so-called journalism.  I commend her creative efforts and strong desire and determination to intertwine my personal and political life to publicly shame me

Nonetheless, lessons learned, let’s proceed.  Take the example set by Diana Asgeirsson and Mary Jane Morgan who were once school board opponents; a political contribution insinuates mended bridges.  And I assume any animosity as a result of Clouse seeking Holguin’s (then city secretary) termination only two years ago has been extinguished.
I wish my successor, Annabel Holguin, success. I believe her experience and knowledge are assets to Alpine and may assist our current administration sort through the garbage left behind by previous administrations.  Beware; the critics might construe this as micromanagement and interference.

To my personal life critics “….He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone…” John 8:7.

See you at council chambers!
